How many people have asked themselves the question, “what can I write about?” I know that I have asked myself this very question many times. Anyone who has read any of the many help books on becoming a writer, how to write this, that or the other, will remember the advice to “Write about what you know ,” but is this really good advice? I don’t know. I’d be the first to admit, I’m no expert, but with good research, it should be possible to write about almost anything. I am thinking about writing an adventure story, aimed at the teen, young adult reader. The story will take place in a part of England that I am completely unfamiliar with. I believe, however, that by studying everything that I can find written about the area, hopefully, including a novel or two based in that area, I will be able to write a story that even someone who has spent their life in that area, will find enjoyable and gripping.
